Don’t stay behind on 2017 trends for hardwood flooring

We are already in the final round for this year; it seems like only yesterday, we were talking about 2016 flooring trends.

With the new year, new styles come in. Although several things have stayed the same, we have some fresh, new hardwood floor trends that will blow your mind by offering a new and stylish twist on the old classic.

Kim Wahlgren, from Hardwood Floors Magazine, said: “For 2017, we don’t see any slowdown of the current preferences for wide-plank in gray tones with extremely low-sheen finishes.”

Also, Cindy Weinstock, The Flooring Lady explained: “I anticipate an increase in the demand for affordable, local, sustainable flooring products. Local wood reclamation, whether that wood is being salvaged from old barns or rescued from underneath old and outdated carpeting, is going to be popular across the country. I also imagine we will see an increase in popularity of lighter wood flooring, even softer wood like pine and cork, and lighter stains on wood flooring, as lighter color floors pair well with trendy bright and bold paint and wallpaper colors.”

2017 color trends for Hardwood Floors

For this coming year, we are expecting trends to drift away from neutral and sober colors, into bold looks that will make homes, offices, and special projects stand out with a new style. Anticipate to see colors at each end of the spectrum, going from dark to blonde, still including some gray, but stepping away from the more traditional colors. Expect extremes – super dark and super light – and not much in between.

1. Dark-Stained Wood Floors

Dark-stained wood floors are often used for contrasting bright whites, especially with large white cabinet trending going on right now.

2. Blonde Wood Floors

Blonde, lighter hardwood floors are earning favor within homeowners. New gorgeous blonde woods have completely transformed the style perception. Lighter floors brighten up the spaces even better with natural light.

3. Gray Wood Floors

Yes, gray seems to be here for the long haul. Even though 2017 is all about extremes, gray floors are still going strong, and we don’t foresee that to shift soon.

This calming and neutral color has been becoming a favorite for years now, becoming a mark for the modern household.

Two more important trends for 2017

Hand-scraping and texture are making a big statement for the style trends as we approach next year. Companies are now going out of their way to add texture to smoother surfaces to give customers the rustic, earthy feeling that is in right now.

This is also achieved by rustic, natural, and unique hand-scraped hardwood flooring, which makes each plank appear to be one of a kind.
