Prefinished hardwood flooring can either last for decades or start wearing out within a few years. The difference? The quality of the factory finish and the expertise of the installer putting it down go a long way.
Here’s what you get when you choose Tongue & Groove for prefinished hardwood installation in Denver:
When prefinished hardwood floors arrive in our showroom, they come from the mill sanded, stained and sealed. In other words, no on-site finishing, harsh odors or extended dry time. It’s perfect for Denver homeowners and builders working on a timeline as it offers the same timeless beauty as site-finished hardwood with a faster, cleaner installation process. At Tongue & Groove, we help you find the right prefinished wood flooring for your space, lifestyle and Colorado’s demanding climate. Visit our hardwood flooring showroom in Denver or let us come to you to get started.
Prefinished hardwood flooring is real wood and can be solid or engineered, but it’s sanded, stained and finished at the factory before it gets to your home. Unlike site-finished floors that are installed raw and finished on-site, prefinished wood flooring comes with a fully cured, factory-applied topcoat that is usually harder and more consistent than what can be achieved in the field.
The factory finishing process uses UV-curing equipment to produce a more durable surface coating than most on-site finishes. Customization is the biggest tradeoff because the finish is applied before installation. Color and sheen choices are what’s available, not what’s mixed on-site. For homeowners who want beautiful, proven finish without the disruption of on-site sanding and finishing, prefinished hardwood makes more sense.
Prefinished planks have a small bevel along the edges, which offers a slightly different look underfoot than the flush surface of a site-finished floor. We walk every client through these differences during the consultation so you can choose the right product for your goals. After you make your choice, our wood installers in Denver take care of the rest.
Prefinished solid hardwood planks are cut from a single piece of timber and arrive ready to install. They offer the benefits of solid real wood floors, are refinishable multiple times, can last for generations and come with the convenience of a factory-applied finish.
Prefinished engineered hardwood flooring combines a real wood veneer top with a stable layered core, which allows it to resist humidity-related movement. For Denver homes with concrete subfloors, below-grade installations or spaces where solid hardwood isn’t the right fit, this is a smart, high-quality alternative. The factory finish is the same durable, UV-cured coating applied to solid prefinished options.
Prefinished hardwood comes in several species, plank widths, surface textures and color tones. The most popular species are white oak, hickory, maple and walnut that each have their own distinct grain patterns, hardness levels and finish options. Depending on the product line, you can choose from wire-brushed, hand-scraped, smooth and distressed textures. We work with you to find a wood floor that fits your style and the demands of Colorado’s dry climate.
The factory finish on prefinished hardwood is usually a UV-cured aluminum oxide coating that’s extremely durable and consistent. Oil-finished options that offer a more natural, matte appearance are available for some product lines. We help you compare the finish characteristics of each product so you understand what you’re choosing before we install it.
At Tongue & Groove, we find that people are always asking us whether they should choose prefinished or site-finished hardwood flooring. Ultimately, it comes down to your priorities.
Both options are real wood and excellent choices. The right option comes down to your home, your timeline and your goals. We can discuss all of these aspects during your consultation.
Finding the right prefinished wood flooring contractor in Denver is all about finding a team that understands the product, the climate and the craft. Our core values drive all of our products:

We could not be happier with the beautiful white oak hardwood flooring we ordered from T & G! Chris and his staff are SO knowledgeable and educated us on all of the options. We ended up using our contractor for install who also said their product is incredible. We found them through our friends who also had a great experience! Highly recommend!Posted on Google![]()

Took the On-line Flooring 101 course from Christopher Keale, with my wife. We are now educated enough to know what sort of flooring we want to use. Highly recommend if you have doubts and don’t know what to get/use. Glad we did it. Takes a little bit of time and is well worth the effort. It took the mystery out of our selection of flooring. We feel that we made the right decisions and are happy with outcome. Highly recommended if you have questions about the what, where and how’s of all the different types of flooring and installation.Posted on Google![]()

T&G installed engineered hardwood at our newly renovated home. The entire experience from start to finish has been A+, and all the staff with whom I have interacted, with a particular "shout out" to David Garcia, have been professional and extremely responsive. Quality work and service to match. In fact, after experiencing some construction related issues resulting from the general contractor and its impact to the cleanliness of the floor, T&G jumped right in, showed up the same day, and provided guidance and assistance in arranging for a professional deep cleaning. Highly recommend!Posted on Google![]()

Everything about the process went well from estimate to conclusion. T&G is prompt and works a long day. The refinished floor looks better than the original. Dust was minimal and easy to clean up when finished. All options were explained clearly and with patience.Posted on Facebook![]()

We hired T&G Flooring based on several recommendations from former customers on NextDoor. We wanted to have our yellow oak flooring stained a darker color. T&G sent out Chris to give us an estimate. Chris was thorough, professional, and friendly. He answered a lot of questions and gave me a very good idea of what to expect. We stained roughly 1200sqft of hardwood on our main floor. Project took 5 days to complete (we scheduled the project for when we were already planning to be out of town). The final floor turned out AMAZING. We're so happy with it. Makes the entire house feel different and more modern. We did need to have Chris come out to do a small touch-up on an area where the stain wasn't quite even. He took care of that the next day after I made the request. We were very pleased with T&G and especially Chris and would recommend them to others.Posted on Facebook![]()

My wife and I moved into her parents' home (built in the 1950's) about a year ago. There was carpeting everywhere! We wanted to have hardwood like we had in our previous home. We found out that all that carpeting was covering up red and white oak hardwood. We talked to Chris Atencio of T&G Flooring and agreed to have them resurface the flooring. OMG what a difference! The crews came in, did their thing, and we now have beautiful hardwood floors that look absolutely marvelous. We are very pleased that we went with T&G. Their quality of work, professionalism, attention to detail, reasonable cost, and friendly demeanor all added up to a wonderful experience. We highly recommend T&G Flooring for all your needs and suggest that you visit their office at 590 Quivas St. in Denver. You will be amazed. Alan FearPosted on Facebook![]()

I would recommend this company for any flooring job anyone would need. The technician who came to my house was professional, polite, and did an outstanding job.He was on time and was able to answer any of my questions. He was exceptionally knowledgeable about what needed to be done, and explained everything. My floors did not look as good when they were initially installed, as they do now. I cannot say enough about how pleased I am with the entire process from estimate to finish.Posted on Houzz![]()

I used T&G for the Morrison Co project - the assistance I received before , during and after the project was impeccable. As a professional my jobs are stronger due to the team we put together. T&G was on time - on budget and they were professional and courteous to my client with or without my presence on the jobsite. I was located in Seattle during the install of the new floors and I was impressed with the constant contact and daily updates of the progress.Posted on Houzz![]()

T&G Flooring is very professional, reasonably priced, and most important - does an outstanding job. Chris, the owner, is honest and a pleasure to work with...and Omar, who installed our hardwood floors and baseboards is a complete pro. My house looks beautiful! Omar has a ton of experence. I was especially curious how the difficult spots were going to turn out, and he executed them perfectly. It's hard to find any flaws with the hardwood or baseboards. Would definitely recommend T&G Flooring!Posted on Angie's List![]()

I chose another company whose bid was slightly lower than T & G's. This was a mistake! In the end, my new floor looks fine, but there were many issues along the way, which I don't think I would have experienced had I chosen T & G. Chris Keale and his company are focused on customer service; the company I chose is not. The next time I need hardwood floor services, I will definitely hire T & G!Posted on Houzz![]()

I received bids from T & G and two other companies to remove old flooring and install new hardwood flooring in my home. I ended up choosing one of the other companies, whose bid was slightly less expensive, and I deeply regret my decision. I had multiple issues with the other company, which I now know has terrible customer service. T & G provides not only excellent flooring services but also excellent customer service. I should have chosen T & G for my project, and I will certainly use them in the future.Posted on Houzz![]()

Chris and his installation team were extremely informative, supportive and patient with respect to our recent hardwood flooring purchase and install. We were looking for an extremely competent flooring company, whose product would be higher in quality, and in appearance, than that of other companies, whose products are made overseas. We were thrilled to purchase our beautiful new walnut hardwood floor, which was domestically milled and finished, from T&G Flooring. We had never purchased a custom made floor before, and Chris' knowledge and reassurance each step of the way made for an exceptional experience. The installation experience was just as exceptional! The installer, was meticulous and laid each board with precision and care. The installer neatly stacked his tools and cleaned the workspace each day, so our home was not left in disarray. We would highly recommend T&G Flooring to anyone who wants top notch flooring service, support, sales, and installation.Posted on Houzz![]()

T&G did a remarkable job restoring my very ugly and dated wood floor. I am an interior designer / architect and I am very picky about quality, service and professionalism. They went the distance on all counts...restoring a floor, which was difficult to begin with, and working with me to achieve a STUNNING finish. I appreciate their ATTENTION TO DETAILS and the level of service which is rare in my profession. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM. Everyone that comes to the house is so complimentary to the design, particularly the floor. SEE PHOTOSPosted on Houzz![]()

T&G Flooring installed hard wood flooring in our dining room. From the individual who gave the estimate to the individual who installed the floor, we were treated with respect and appreciated their professional attidude. We were very appreciative of how well the work area was cleaned up every day as well as the area used outside. The young man who installed the floor told us about every step in the process and asked if we had any questions about what was to be done. He was very professional and very personable. We are totally happy with our new flooring and with the quality of work performed by T&G Flooring.Posted on Houzz![]()

We have worked with T&G for several years as our preferred installation company for our reclaimed hardwood floors. They do an absolutely fantastic job with everything they touch. Our customers are always happy, and if ever there is an issue, T&G stands by their product and their services and always backs-up what they say with the appropriate actions. We highly recommend their services and their people!Posted on Angie's List![]()

We couldn't be more thrilled with our floors and the work done by the crew at T&G Flooring! Owner Chris Keele came out to our house and gave us an estimate for the work, answered all of our many questions, and actually explained everything in very easy to understand terms. He educated us on all the options, gave helpful suggestions along the way, and made us feel at ease. We chose T&G Flooring over 4 other contractors who also gave us estimates. T&G wasn't the lowest bid, but not the highest either - we felt it was very fair. The project took a few days longer than expected but everything was clearly communicated to us. The crew was fantastic! Sam (installer), Jose & Cody (sanding, staining and finishing) and Steve (trim work) were all very skilled, professional, and did absolutely beautiful work. The transition between new and old floor is completely seamless, and it turned out better than we imagined - it's gorgeous! We couldn't decide on a stock stain color so they custom mixed the perfect one for us. We love our new floors! We would highly recommend Chris and the whole crew at T&G Flooring for any hardwood project, big or small!Posted on Angie's List![]()

Choose this company because they had good prices and quality products. They have evening open houses with the public where you get a very thorough education on hardwood floors. All pluses and minuses of different woods explained, especially how they relate to a semi-arid Denver metro climate and usage. Very pleasant workers, explained every step. Dirt and dust kept to a minimum. Explained what to do and not do to keep floor in shape. Left a container of stain for me to use in case I need to cover a scratch/ding. My pets don't harm the floor. Friends comment on smoothness of floor compared to their floors.
Prefinished hardwood flooring costs vary depending on the species, construction type (solid or engineered), plank width, surface texture, finish quality, square footage and subfloor conditions. We work with suppliers across a range of price points so there are custom prefinished hardwood options for homeowners with a variety of budgets. Our goal is to help you make the right decision, not the most expensive one.
Yes. We bring samples to your home, assess your space, walk you through prefinished hardwood options so you can choose one that fits your environment, timeline and goals. Schedule yours to get started.
Prefinished hardwood planks arrive from the factory already sanded, stained and sealed with a durable topcoat so you can install them without on-site finishing, sanding dust or extended drying times. Meanwhile, site-finished hardwood is installed raw and finished on-site so you can customize the color, have flush flush surfaces with no edge bevels and custom mix stains to match existing floors. Prefinished is fast and clean. Site-finished offers more customization, but we help you make the right decision for your needs during your consultation.
Prefinished hardwood is great for Denver’s low-humidity climate as the layered core constructions resists seasonal movement better than solid hardwood. Prefinished solid hardwood needs the same acclimation period and humidity management as unfinished solid. Either way, our team will guide you toward products and installation methods that suit Colorado’s altitude and humidity range. We include options backed by manufacturer warranties as low as 18% relative humidity.
Yes. Tongue & Groove Flooring is a full-service prefinished hardwood installation company serving Denver and the surrounding communities. Our in-house installation team handles everything from subfloor preparation through final walkthrough — no subcontractors, no rotating crews.
With proper care and humidity management, prefinished solid hardwood can last 50 years or more. Prefinished engineered hardwood will last 25-50 years depending on the wood veneer top thickness, species and maintenance. The factory finish is durable and resists daily wear. We walk you through the long-term performance expectations of any product you’re considering.
Whether you are searching for new hardwood floors, working on an upcoming
project or looking to learn more about wood floors, we are here to help.
